The Mandela Capture Site

The Capture Site which is 19kms from King's Hill B & B on the Midlands Meander, marks the beginning of Nelson Mandelas long walk to freedom as the site where Madiba was captured in 1962. A unique sculpture is set into the KZN Midlands landscape. Also onsite: a coffee shop, a gift shop with exclusive merchandise, a book shop and exhibition.

The Truth Cafe is based on the Truth Cafe in Johannesburg which is affiliated to the Apartheid Museum . The Truth Cafe in Lions River is open for breakfast and lunches: 8am to 4pm

They offer a range of meals from a wonderful Full Midlands breakfast to Eggs Benedict to Madiba Chicken Malay Curry, steak,egg and chips, biltong and blue cheese lasagna and lighter items. You may choose from the menu or off the ever-changing specials board.

They cater for tourists, schools and corporate groups/tours during the week and offer packages -a guided tour through the Mandela exhibition, a visit to the Truth Store, Impumelelo bead artists and a meal.

At present there is no entrance fee charged to view the Nelson Mandela sculpture.
